Patnagarh: At least two persons were killed after a bridge over the Suktel river collapsed in Patnagarh of Bolangir district on Wednesday.
While the identities of the deceased persons were not known immediately, a probe into the incident has been launched. The bodies have been recovered and sent to Patnagarh CHC for post-mortem, sources said.
According to reports,, the incident took place when repair work was being undertaken on a section of the bridge which was constructed in 2015 at a cost of Rs 7 crores.
Sources said, the foundation stone for the bridge connecting Tamia and Mudalasar was laid on January 7, 2014 and inaugurated on July 3, 2015.
The construction company also received award for completing the bridge in a record 1 year and four months. However, after four years a section of the bridge developed cracks and needed repair.
