Two held for snatching mobile phone in Bhubaneswar


Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police today arrested two youth of Kharavelnagar on charges of snatching the mobile phone from a person near Tarini Temple last night.

The accused duo has been identified as Paramananda Behera (28), of Baharana under Niali police limits in Cuttack district, and Situ Behera(28), of Hindol town in Dhenkanal district.

According to the FIR, the complainant was coming from Bhubaneswar Railway Station towards Master Canteen square when the accused duo came on a scooter and snatched away his mobile phone near Tarini Temple.

However, one of them was caught by the public immediately after the victim raised an alarm. The other snatcher then sped away towards Sriya Chhak leaving his accomplice behind.

Following the complaint, police zeroed in on the other accused after an investigation. Police also recovered the stolen mobile phone and seized the vehicle used in the crime.

A case (106/19) has been registered against the arrested youths at Kharavelnagar police station and forwarded to judicial custody, the police said.
