Two held for smuggling wood in Kalahandi


Kalahandi: Narla forest range officials seized a pick-up van on the Jampadar-Kanakpur road under Narla police limits in Kalahandi district and arrested two persons involved in smuggling woods on Saturday night.

The accused were identified as Prem Juada of Sapasilet village and his associate Ketan Bag of Chancha village in the district.

A team led by Narla forest range officer Nrutaraj Majhi intercepted the wood-laden pickup van during night patrolling duty. During search, woods estimated to worth around Rs 30000, were seized from the vehicle, the forest officials informed.

The accused duo has been handed over to the police and they will be produced before court today, said a forest official.
