Two held for killing woman in Nabarangpur forest
Nabarangpur: Two persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of a woman whose half-charred body was recovered from Beheda Reserve Forest in Nabarangpur district on October 10.
The accused persons were identified as Basu Baghel, who happens to be the brother-in-law of the deceased woman, and his friend Buduram Harijan. The accused has been forwarded to court, the police said.
The deceased woman was identified as Bimalabai Baghel of Chhattisgarh.
Addressing a press meet, Nabarangpur SP Bibekanand Sharma said that the deceased woman, identified as Bimalabai Baghel of Chhattisgarh, was found murdered and her half-charred body was recovered from the forest near Umarkote-Raighar road 20 days ago.
Earlier, the identity of the woman was unknown, but later her mobile phone was recovered and during verification, the duo came under suspicion. Later, they were apprehended and confessed to the crime during the interrogation.
According to police, Bimalabai had shifted to Raighar along with her children after her husband’s death ten years ago. She was working in a hotel.
Investigation revealed that Bimalabai was allegedly involved in a love affair with Basu and was forcing him to get married. In order to get rid of her, accused Basu planned to eliminate her.
Basu along with his friend Buduram took the woman to the forest in Beheda and chocked her to death. Later, they set her body on fire in a bid to hide her identity and wife out evidence, the police said.
