Two COVID warriors among 22 fresh positive cases in Deogarh
Deogarh: As many as 22 persons have tested COVID-19 positive in Odisha’s Deogarh district in a day, as per information from the Health & Family Welfare Department on Monday. However, it has now come the fore that of the fresh cases, two are COVID warriors.
While all positive cases have been detected in government institutional quarantine centres in the district. Among then two are women- an ASHA worker and another a migrant.
While eight coronavirus positive cases have been found at Utunia govt institutional quarantine centre in Reamal block, 11 others detected at Sodo govt institutional quarantine centre in Tileibani block of the district. All the COVID-19 patients have been shifted to Deogarh COVID Hospital by the Health Department.
On the other hand, the Information and Public Relations Department has informed that among the fresh positive cases, three are Andhra Pradesh returnees, 16 are Tamil Nadu returnees and other three are locals.
Of the three locals tested COVID-19 positive, one is an ASHA worker and another is a school teacher, both were engaged in COVID management duty at Sodo govt institutional quarantine centre.
“The fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been admitted to Deogarh COVID Hospital and they could be shifted to other facilities after directions from the health department,” said District Health Officer Manoj Kumar Upadhyay.
In a latest development, Deogarh Collector tweeted that the contact tracing in respect of all the three local COVID positive cases (associated with the TMC) has been done. The DM informed that requisite containment measures have been taken in this regard. Besides, all contacts are asymptomatic, doing well and samples will be taken for testing in due course.

It may be mentioned here that on April 29, Deogarh reported its first COVID-19 case and the second case on May 14. Earlier, the first patient was discharged after recovery and today the second patient recovered. with the detection of 22 fresh cases, the total tally of COVID-19 cases in Deogarh district has mounted 24 with 2 recoveries.
