Two burglars thrashed by villagers in Cuttack
Cuttack: Two burglars were given a sound thrashing by the villagers in Goudagopa under Mahanga police limits in Cuttack district after being caught red-handed while trying to loot two shops last night.
According to reports, four burglars reached Goudagopa Bazaar on a Mahindra Bolero car late last night at around 2 pm, in a bid to loot shops.
They broke into the grocery shop of Batakrushna Samal and cycle shop of Bairagi Samal in the market to loot it. However, some locals spotted them and managed to nab two of them, while two others sped away.
The angry locals then tied the duo on the spot and thrashed them mercilessly. The locals detained them till morning.
On being informed, Mahanga police reached the spot and rescued the duo from the clutches of the angry locals.
A case into the incident has been registered and efforts are on to trace the absconding burglars, said the police.
