Phulbani: The forest department officials have arrested two persons for allegedly trying to set Gedripaju forest on fire near the Balsas Kumbha Reserve forest under the Khajuripada block in Kandhamal district.
The arrestees have been identified as Dayanidhi Kanhar of Badbhui Sikirikhol village under Khajuripada police station and Subal Kanhar of Dampidia village of Adasipada village panchayat.
Reportedly, a team led by Bisipada Section Forester Asik Digal conducted a raid and caught the accused red-handed while they were trying to set the forest on fire and arrested them.
Following this, a case has been registered and the accused were forwarded to court. Further investigation is underway in this regard.
