Pattamundai: Police have arrested two persons on charges of assaulting Pattamundai Tehsildar Dillip Kumar Sethi inside his office on Saturday late afternoon.
The arrested persons have been identified as, Dola Gobinda Sahoo, district convenor of Naba Nirmana Krushak Sangathan, and Udayabhanu Sahoo of Kanipal village under Badamohanpur panchayat in Kendrapara district.
The arrested persons had barged into the Tehsildar’s office chamber at around 4.30 pm on Saturday and attacked the on-duty government official accusing him of inaction against illegal brick kilns flourishing near Kanipal village. A video of the incident is also doing rounds in social media.
Apart from lodging a complaint with the local PS, the Tehsildar had handed over a copy of the FIR to the Pattamundai SDPO, requesting him to take legal action. Pattamundai police had detained the accused duo yesterday. Following rounds of interrogation, the police arrested the duo.
