Washington: The US President Donald Trump has blamed Iran for attacks on oil tankers near Strait of Hormuz but favours dialogue on the issue.
Trump said he was hoping for talks with the Islamic Republic as the Pentagon considers beefing up defenses in the Persian Gulf area.
This response from US has come a day after explosions blew holes in two oil tankers just outside Iran’s territorial waters.
The incident has rattled international oil markets, but the US administration is caught between the option of punishing Iran and at the same time reassure its Gulf Arab allies without drawing closer to war.
The US military released video that showed Iran’s Revolutionary Guard removing an unexploded mine from one of the oil tankers.
