Kalimela Police seized a truck carrying 500 kilograms of cannabis during a routine patrol near Poteru-Badli Chowk.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 AM when a 12-wheeler truck was spotted speeding. Despite signals to stop, the truck attempted to evade the police, prompting a chase.
The police successfully intercepted the vehicle after a brief pursuit. Upon inspection, 20 plastic bags containing cannabis were discovered in the truck’s cargo. The driver, Raj Kumar (25), and his assistant, Sonu Singh (22), both residents of Digrota village in Haryana’s Mahendranagar district, were arrested on the spot.
The seized cannabis was reportedly being transported from Malkangiri, Odisha, to Haryana. The Kalimela Police registered a case under the NDPS Act (Case No. 95/2025) and presented the accused in court. Investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the operation.
This seizure highlights the growing issue of drug trafficking in the region and the need for stringent measures to combat it.
