Train mishap averted after broken rail track found near Mayurbhanj


Mayurbhanj: A major train mishap was averted near Gorumahisani Railway Station in Mayurbhanj district owing to the alertness of two loco pilots of Tatanagar-Badampahar DEMU on Friday.

The loco pilots namely, SK Hembram and S Soren noticed the railway track broken just 2 km before the Gorumahisani Railway Station.

According to reports, the loco pilots found the track completely damaged ahead of the Railway Station. Acting immediately, they stopped the train and saved the lives of hundreds of passengers.

The train service was delayed by more than two hours. Temporary repairs were made on the track after which the train was allowed to pass. However, the passengers had to walk 2 km to reach the station.

The track was suspected to have been damaged while a wagon carrying iron ore from Gorumahisani mine moved on the route last night, reports said.
