Dhaka: Fifteen people were killed and 58 others injured when two trains collided head on in eastern Bangladesh early on Tuesday, police officials said.
The officials said three coaches went off the tracks at Mondolbhag station in Kasba when a Dhaka bound intercity train bound for Chittagong collided.
The local police chief Anisur Rahman told news agencies that “At least 15 people have been killed. And another 58 were injured. We have sent the injured to different hospitals in the region”.
Train services out of Dhaka were hit after the accident. “We are still conducting a rescue operation,” Rahman said. He said faulty signalling could have been to blame.
