Trader assaulted, robbed of Rs 2.45 lakh in Dhenkanal


Dhenkanal: Unidentified miscreants decamped with Rs 2.45 lakh from a trader after holding him at gunpoint in Dhenkanal district on Thursday.

The incident reported to have occurred near Jagmara in Town police limits in the district.

According to sources, the trader, Biswanath Sahu, was on his way to Dhenkanal through Shankarpur road at around 3 pm when the miscreants waylaid him.

Sahu, a native of Godajharia village in Tigiria police limits of Cuttack district, is a construction material dealer. He was going to deposit the amount in Indian Bank branch in Dhenkanal.

The miscreants held him at gunpoint and assaulted him before fleeing with the bag containing the cash.

There were five passbooks of different banks in the bag, Sahu alleged.
