Bhubaneswar: Tour De Kalinga, the longest community cycling tour in the country covering 1300 kilometres in 13 days, will commence from Bhubaneswar on December 8.
A team of 30 National and International Cyclist will travel on bicycles from Bhubaneswar to Koraput and again return to Bhubanswar through different routes, informed Sudhir Kumar Dash, the founder of Roots of Odisha Foundation.
“The Puri-Konark Marine Drive, the Chillika Lagoons, the mountainous terrain of the Eastern Ghat, the Tibetan Culture, the Tribal culture and the lost Green forest has tremendous potential to be a Cycling Tour Corridor and we will be able to place Odisha in the hot seat of the International map and centre of attraction worldwide,” Dash said.
“We have a strong team coming from different states and different walks of life. The cyclist divided into 5 teams will sensitise public against social issues such as the Tobacco Consumption, Plastic usage, child mortality, sanitation and healthcare and corruption eradication,” Dash said.
“We have plans to work with District administration at the transit point and to clean the beach, say no to plastic campaign, and audience gathers at place on the grievous issue of corruption and child mortality, causes of cancer,” he further added.
On the first day, the joining is open to all public for a 150 km ride from Bhubaneswar to Satapada and like every year 500+ participants are to join in the flag in ceremony and ride with the expedition team.
