Kabul: The death toll has risen to eleven following the attack on a political gathering in Kabul which was attended by several Afghan leaders on Thursday.
The interior ministry said on Friday that 95 persons were wounded in the deadly attack that occurred on Thursday in the Afghan capital.
The attack took place when the Afghan leaders were commemorating the death of a Shiite leader. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The interior ministry officials said the majority of the casualties were civilians.
Media reports said nearly a dozen mortar shells were fired on those attending the open-air rally marking 24 years since the death of Shiite leader Hazara Abdul Ali Mazari.
