Tokyo: Chasing an elusive Olympic medal in archery, India’s star archer Deepika Kumari finished 9th in the Ranking Round while India male archers disappointed the fans with their opening performances on Friday.

Deepika is likely to face the South Korean Olympic record holder An San in the quarter=final, provided both the archers get to that round.

She will be in action in the Women’s individual event on July 24. She shot a total of 663 in 72 arrows to finish 9th.

In another hand, India’s debutant Pravin Jadhav finished as the best Indian archer in the Ranking Round at 31st while Atanu Das and Tarundeep Rai stood at 35th and 37th rank respectively.

Atanu Das finishes with 653 points and managed 24 10s, 2 more than Pravin Jadhav who collected 656 points.

India are at the 9th spot in the Mixed Team Entry List. Pravin Jadhav and Deepika Kumari have given a combined 1319 points.

However, it remains to be seen who will team up with Deepika in tomorrow’s elimination rounds. The federation can still pair Atanu Das with the partner on July 24.
