Tokyo Olympics 2020: Japan resets the clock on rescheduled Summer Games

Tokyo: Olympic organisers have confirmed the rescheduled Games would start on 23 July next year following which Tokyo’s main countdown clock had been reset to show that 479 days remain until the Opening Ceremony of the sporting event is held.

Tokyo Olympics organisers announced that the Games would run from 23 July to 8 August, 2021.

The Games were postponed last week – the first such delay in the 124-year history of the modern Olympics. The move was a huge blow for Japan, which invested $13 billion in the run-up to the event and raised $3 billion from domestic sponsors.

The delay has caused uncertainty for Tokyo businesses and sponsors.
