Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) has been receiving donations from different personalities and celebrities for rebuilding Odisha ravaged by the Cyclone FANI.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s appeal for help and cooperation in the wake of the natural disaster has got positive response from different walks of life. But, behind this noble cause, one incident that occurred on Wednesday has raised the eyebrows of people.
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar had announced Rs 1 crore financial assistance on Twitter to Odisha CMRF for the reconstruction of the state which has been devastated by the extremely severe cyclonic storm FANI.
According to sources, the cheque of Rs 1 crore could have been remitted to the Chief Minister’s office directly. But, Arup Patnaik, the former Police Commissioner of Mumbai, handed over the cheque to the Odisha CM on the behalf of the actor. The ex-cop also posed for the photograph as if he himself has donated the sum to the relief fund.
A number of photographs of donors to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund have been released to the press. The president of Kendrapara Credit Cooperative Society, Pramod Sahu, has given Rs one lakh. The ADM of Ganjam, on behalf of the district administration, has given Rs 31.2 to the relief fund. The director of Falcon Marine Export has provided Rs one crore.
Likewise, the Panchayat Samiti members of Shergarh have given Rs 2.2 lakh and Manoj Nayak of Bhubaneswar has donated Rs 21,000 to the CMRF.
