Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, five labourers were killed as the cement–laden tipper in which they were travelling turned turtle in Malkangiri.
The accident occurred at the Hantalguda ghat in Swabhiman area of Malkangiri district. The deceased have not been identified yet.
As per initial reports, the tipper carrying about ten labourers lost its balance at the Hantalguda ghat when it was on its way to Chitakonda to Jodamba. As a result, five labourers lost their life on the sopt and others sustained critical injuries.
The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. On receiving the information, police and fire department personnel rushed the spot and carried out the rescue operation. Further investigation is underway.
