Dehradun/Bijnor: An adult tiger — around 7 to 8 years of age— was found dead in Dhela forest range of Corbett Tiger, said forest officials.

According to reports, the matter came to light after patrolling staff of the CTR spotted the carcass of the tiger in Dhela range on Sunday.

This is not the first such incident in the region. On April 15, a tigress was found injured in Danibangar forests of Terai East forest division.

Two tigers were found dead in Dhela forest range on March 21 and March 15. On January 7, a 12-year-old tiger was killed in an accident while it was crossing the road at Kaladhungi near Bhakhra bridge in Haldwani.

Owing to the increase in tiger population because of conservation efforts in the Dhela range and bordering Amangarh Tiger Reserve, which is situated in Uttar Pradesh but falls under Corbett buffer zone, tiger deaths due to man-animal conflict and infighting are on the rise.
