Thunderstorm & Lightning Alert: IMD Issues Yellow Warning, Check Latest Updates

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) here has issued thunderstorm with lightning alert for several districts of the State.

A yellow warning has also been issued in this regard.

According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, the cyclonic circulation over East Jharkhand & neighbourhood now lies over north Jharkhand & neighbourhood between 1.5 km & 3.1 km above mean sea level.

” Light to moderate rain / thundershower have occurred at many places over the districts of North Interior Odisha, at a few places over the districts of South Odisha & North coastal Odisha with Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of DHENKANAL & KEONJHAR and also Very Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of KORAPUT & KEONJHAR of Odisha,” said the weather agency.

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 30.08.2022) Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati ,Ganjam, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri,Gajapati, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 31.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 01.09.2022)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.09.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 02.09.2022)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada ,Balangir, Kalahandi , Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Kandhamal.

The IMD further stated that the highest maximum temperature of 36.0˚C was recorded at MALKANGIRI and the lowest minimum temperature of 21.0°C was recorded at NAYAGARH & BOUDH in the plains of Odisha
