Three killed, six hurt in separate road mishaps


Keonjhar/Balasore: Three persons were killed while six others sustained critical injuries in separate road accidents in Keonjhar and Balasore districts on Friday.

Two persons were killed after their bike hit a roadside pillar at Jadichatar area under Sadar police limits in Keonjhar district. The deceased have been identified as Ranjan Nayak and Deba Munda of Sankari village.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Further investigation into the incident is underway.

Similarly, a man was killed in Anjar area on National Highway 49 after a road troller skidded off the road and turned turtle. The identity of the persons is yet to be ascertained.

In a related incident, at least six members of a family were critically injured after an auto-rickshaw they were travelling in turned turtle near Karunabanka area under Singla police limits in Balasore district today.

According to reports, the auto-rickshaw carrying around 11 passengers was heading to Kasafala from Bhanupur when the driver lost control over the wheels and the vehicle overturned.

Locals rushed to the rescue of the injured and shifted them to the district headquarters hospital. Reportedly, the condition of all the injured persons was stated to be stable.
