Athagarh: Three persons including a father-son duo were injured after a former Army personnel opened fire on them at Jenapada village under Athagarh police station limits on Sunday.
Reportedly, the seriously injured victims have been shifted to Cuttack SCBMCH after first-aid at Athagarh hospital.
According to sources, the accused, Sadananda Das (40) alias Lituna of Haridapshi village under Tigiria police station was earlier staying at his relative’s house in Jenapda village. After retiring from the service, he started staying at his newly-built two-storied house at Marugotha on State Highway 65.
Sources said Sadananda is allegedly having an illicit affair with a married woman living in Jenapada village. The matter came to the fore after he recently posted photos of both of them on social media. Later, the issue was sorted out after a mutual understanding.
At around four o’clock this afternoon, Lituna went to Jenapda village and again tried meet the woman. However, the woman’s father-in-law Bansidhar Nayak (60), his brother Dinbandhu Nayak (45), and brother in law, Jituna Nayak (32) opposed his actions.
Following an argument, the accused Lituna fired seven rounds from his gun injuring the trio critically.
While all this has happened, Athagarh police did not have any news regarding the incident. Besides, no complaint has been filed in Athagarh police station till the last report came in.
