Bhawanipatna: Three persons have been arrested today on charges of gang-raping a married woman near Gobara canal in Junagarh area in Kalahandi district.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the victim on December 12, the Bhawanipatna Sadar police have arrested three accused, identified as Jhasketan Nag, Laxmikant Nag and Kishore Chandra Mahalik.
As per reports, the woman’s husband, who works in Goa, had sent some money to his friend Jhasketan to give it to her. The woman then reached Jhasketan’s house in Talamala village, but the latter gave only a few amount and told her to give the rest after withdrawing money from an ATM kiosk located at Gobara Chhak.
After the woman reached the location, Jhasketan and two of his acquaintances dragged her to a secluded place and took turns to rape her. They even threatened to murder her, if she reveals the matter to anyone else.
On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 376D, 394, 294, 506 and 34 of the IPC. Following the arrest, the medical examination of both the accused and the victim were conducted. Later, the accused trio was sent to jail after a local court rejected their bail plea.
