Paradip: A truck driver, who was allegedly assaulted by the police for no reason, deliberately rammed a PCR van at Dochhak along the Cuttack- Paradip Road today.
Reportedly, the incident took place while the coal-laden truck was crossing the road at Dochakk on the Cuttack- Paradeep Road today. Meanwhile, the cops intercepted the truck and asked the driver to produce vehicle documents.
Sources said the police personnel thrashed the driver during the checking for no reason. Fumed over this, the driver reversed the truck at full speed and rammed the PCR van. The collision was so intense that the PCR van was badly mangled and a bike also suffered extensive damage. Fortunately, the PCR van driver escaped unhurt.
Following this, police have detained the truck driver. But when asked whether the driver was beaten for no reason, the cops were tight-lipped.
