Silchar: At least three coaches were gutted in a massive fire that broke out at the Silchar-Thiruvananthapuram Express train stationed at the Silchar Railway station today morning.
However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to sources, the mishap occurred in the morning when the train was stationed at Silchar Railway station. Fire first broke out at the pantry car of the train and later speared to two other coaches.
Following the incident, panic gripped the passengers who were waiting outside the platform no.3 of the railway station.
On being informed, Silchar fire service and SDRF personnel immediately reached the spot and launched an operation to douse the flames. The reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, sources said.
