Third phase operation to tranquilise tigress Sundari underway


Angul: After two failed attempts to tranquilise and capture the Royal Bengal tigress Sundari in the last 24 hours, the 6-member team of experts has launched third phase operation at Satkosia Tiger Reserve (STR) in Angul district on Wednesday.

According to available information, Sundari was spotted at a hill near Baghamunda village today. While a team has gone up to the hill in order to track the big cat, another team has been deployed around the hills, said a source.

Earlier last night, the six-member team of experts from Bhubaneswar who reached Kumuri village failed at two attempts to tranquilise Royal Bengal tigress Sundari .

According to sources, despite tracking the tigress with the use of GPS, she managed to give a slip to the forest officials.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Sandeep Tripathy, had informed that once the tigress is captured, she will be shifted to a special protected enclosure at Raiguda.
