Tension caused at private hospital in Bhubaneswar


Bhubaneswar: Tension erupted at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar following the death of a patient after family members along with local villagers ransacked the hospital premises alleging medical negligence.

According to reports, one Aditya Sahoo of Khandagiri area was admitted to Vivekanand Hospital some days ago after he met with an accident.

The family members of the victim had deposited around Rs 2.5 lakh for his treatment and he had undergone a surgery.

The doctors informed that the surgery was successful and the patient was recovering well. He was also able to walk with help of others, said a family member of the deceased.

However, the doctors declared Sahoo dead this morning, alleged the family member.

It is nothing but only the negligence of the hospital authority that took life of the patient, the family claimed, adding the hospital authorities did not hand over the dead body, however, demanded Rs 84,000 more for clearance.

Locals gathered at the hospital premises hearing the demand of money to hand over the body and started ransacking properties inside the hospital.

Police rushed to the spot being informed about the incident and pacified the irate public.

Sahoo’s body was later sent for post-mortem.
