Temple Devaswom Board files plea in SC seeking time


Sabarimala: In a latest development, the Travancore Devaswom Board of Sabarimala temple took more time to implement apex court’s order for allowing women of menstrual age to offer prayers in the temple.

The board has filed an application in the Supreme Court in this respect. Sources said the plea was filed through advocate Chandra Uday Singh.

In the meanwhile, the Kerala High Court has, meanwhile, questioned the Pinarayi Vijayan government over “police excesses” in Sabarimala. It said policemen should be in the barracks and they should not harass pilgrims.

The protesters were taken into preventive custody on Sunday night at the Sabarimala temple after fresh protests broke out at Nadapanthal area in Sannidhanam where hundreds of devotees agitated against the police restrictions.
