Telangana Student Shot Dead In US; Parents Seek Help In Bringing Back Body
Hyderabad: The parents of a 25-year-old Indian student, who died after suffering a fatal bullet injury in a shooting incident in Alabama State in the United States, have sought governments’ help in bringing the body back home.
Akhil Sai Mahankali, who was studying MS in the US, hailed from Madhira town in Khammam district. He died in the state of Alabama, US, on Monday and an Indian national was arrested and charged with manslaughter, police said.
Following this, his parents requested the Telangana, India and the US governments to help in sending their son’s body to their native place.
Police and medical personnel in the US found Akhil Sai Mahankali with a life-threatening gunshot wound around 9.30 pm on Sunday. They took him to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, according to reports.
Both the victim and the accused are from Montgomery, the capital city of Alabama, it said, adding that the latter is now in jail.
