Teakwood worth Rs 2.5 lakh seized in Khurda village


Khurda: Police seized teakwood worth over Rs 2.5 lakh from Raipada village under Ranpur forest range in Khurda district on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off about the illegal activity, forest ranger Sarat Kumar Satpathy along with other officials raided Dantipada Sahi of the village and seized the timber woods.

According to sources, 28 pieces of five-foot-long teak timber were seized. However, no arrest has been made in this regard so far.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered by the officials and a manhunt has been launched to nab the smugglers, added the sources.
