Talcher’s rogue elephant tranquilised, captured

Talcher: The rogue elephant that wreaked havoc in several villages under Talcher forest range in Angul district has been captured.

According to sources, forest officials successfully tranquilised the wild elephant. A team including forest officials, veterinary doctors, and tranquiliser experts were pressed into service to tame the animal.

Reportedly, the jumbo was captured near Anant Pum house in Dera area here. The pachyderm, that was chained, is yet to be shifted to a new location.

The officials are yet to decide whether to release the elephant in the forest, sources said.
