Talcher: Members of Talcher truck owners’ association on Thursday staged ‘rail roko’ agitation opposing coal transportation from the area through train services.
The association launched the indefinite stir protesting the use of trains to transport coal because of which truck drivers run out of work and face financial loss.
The bandh has affected train services from the areas of Hingula, Balram, Bharatpur, Lingaraj and many other places.
Transport services to companies like NTPC and NALCO was also hampered as trucks remained off road.
The agitators also alleged that as many as 10,000 truck drivers were affected following the decision of the use of the railway service to transport coal and not including by-road transportation in the decision.
“The indefinite agitation will continue till our demands are considered,” an agitator said.
