Bhubaneswar: Syrian Ambassador to India, Riad Abbas met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Lok Seva Bhawan here on Monday.
A small delegation led by His Excellency Riad Abbas discussed matters of mutual interest between Odisha and Syria and praised Odisha’s progress in the education sector.
“It was a great honour to meet the Chief Minister of Odisha. We look forward to inviting him to our country and strengthen the cooperation between Odisha and Syria,” Abbas told the media persons soon after the meeting adding that the steps Odisha has taken towards education are praiseworthy.
“The Chief Minister of Odisha has made changes on the ground. The way he has supported and empowered the underprivileged is exemplary.”
Abbas also visited KIIT University and KISS and met faculty members and students at the campus. There are 300 students from Syria studying at KIIT and KISS. “We are happy to note the manner in which KIIT-KISS Founder Achyuta Samanta has developed education infrastructure,” said Abbas.
