Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case: Supreme Court orders CBI investigation

New Delhi: The CBI will take over investigations into actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the Supreme Court ordered today.

Supreme Court asked Mumbai Police to hand over all evidence to CBI.

In a big win for Bihar in its tussle with Maharashtra, the Supreme Court also said the FIR registered in Patna based on a complaint filed by Sushant Singh’s father was correct and Bihar was competent to ask the CBI to investigate the case.

Actor Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend, had asked the Supreme Court to transfer the FIR or First Information Report registered by his family in Patna to Mumbai.

Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14.

Bihar Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha on Wednesday said Mumbai Police was only looking to close the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death cases, adding that people will ensure that the investigation goes into the right hands and the late actor’s family get justice.

Based on Rajput’s father KK Singh’s complaint that Rhea Chakraborty was responsible for abetment of his son’s suicide, Patna Police registered an FIR on July 25.

Singh also alleged that Chakraborty illegally transferred Rs 15 crore from Rajput’s bank account. However, the actor has denied all allegations and maintained that she will cooperate with an investigation launched by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Meanwhile, Singh was quizzed by the ED on his son’s finances on Tuesday.
