Sushant, Sara starrer Kedarnath earns Rs 7cr on first day

Mumbai: Sushant Singh Rajput and debutant Sara Ali Khan starrer Kedarnath collected around Rs 7 crore on the first day. The movie opened to moderate response at the box office despite being the solo Bollywood release of the week.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office figures of the film on his Twitter handle.

However, Kedarnath has not been able to steal the thunder from Rajinikanth’s 2.0, which hit the screens last week. The film “stayed strong” despite new release and is expected to show “substantial growth” over the weekend, tweeted the trade analyst.

In terms of opening-day collection, Kedarnath has beaten films like Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Stree, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran.

Kedarnath is produced by RSVP and Guy in the Sky Pictures and directed by Abhishek Kapoor.

Kedarnath is a love story of a Hindu tourist played by Sara and a Muslim porter (pithoo) played by Sushant, who takes her on the 14 kilometre-long pilgrimage from Gauri Kund to the shrine of Lord Shiva. The movie is set against the backdrop of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods.

The film also starring Nitish Bharadwaj, Pooja Gor and Nishant Dahiya in important roles.
