Superstition! Couple Keeps Son’s Body For Hours In Hopes Of Resurrection

Subarnapur: In a strange news, superstition clouded the minds of a couple who allegedly kept the body of their minor son in the house for around 37 hours hoping a miracle and expecting the child to resurrect from the dead.

Such an incident has been reporte from Narayanpur village under Tarbha block of Subarnapur district.

As per available information, the the 10-month-old son of Nabaghana Karmi of the village was suffering from some stomach ailment and was admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla where the child was pronounced dead.

Marred by shock and disbelief, Karmi and his wife contacted a Tantrik upon returning home. The sorcerer also assured them that their son will come back to life.

Following the superstitious rituals, the couple smeared the child’s body with turmeric and sandalwood paste and kept the body in their home waiting for his resurrection, however in vain.

On getting information, Collector Monisha Banerjee and DCPO Chaturbhuja Dash intervened in the matter. Following it, Tarbha Police Station IIC, Narayanpur Sarpanch, and some local activists persuaded the parents to give up the blind belief and the last rites of the child was conducted.
