At least 19 people were killed and 27 wounded in a suicide bombing at an education institute in the Afghan capital of Kabul, police said on Friday. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

The explosion happened inside the centre in the Dashti Barchi neighborhood of Kabul, said Khalid Zadran, the Taliban-appointed spokesman for the Kabul police chief.

“An educational centre called ‘Kaj’ has been attacked, which unfortunately has caused deaths and injuries,” interior ministry spokesman Abdul Nafy Takor tweeted.

“Security teams have reached the site, the nature of the attack and the details of the casualties will be released later. “Attacking civilian targets proves the enemy’s inhuman cruelty and lack of moral standards.”

Videos posted online and photos published by local media showed bloodied victims being carried from the scene, AFP reported.
