Dhenkanal: Stray cattle menace claimed the life of a 41-year-old man who was gored by fighting bulls when he was returning to his house after watching Gajalaxmi Puja in Dhenkanal.
The deceased has been identified as Chittaranjan Pani of Dakhinakali area in the district.
The incident took place at around 10pm near Dakhinakali hospital when Pani was headed back to his house due to traffic congestion in the area for puja.
While he was on his way, two bulls suddenly locked horns. As he tried to save himself, a bull pushed him on to the road and gored him multiple times, eyewitnesses said.
Some locals rescued him in a critical condition and rushed him to Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) but he succumbed to his fatal injuries at the hospital, said a source.
Meanwhile, locals have blamed the district administration for failing to curb stray cattle menace which claimed the life of a person.
