Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch arrested a person on charges of illegal trade of Narcotic Drugs from Bhadrak Town and forwarded him to the court today.
The accused has been identified as Mirza Sayed Baig (48), a resident of Kazi Sahi, Under Arada Police limits in this district.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the STF personnel conducted a raid at Bhadrak Town and nabbed Baig along with the seizure of contraband articles like ganja, opium weighing 326.45 grams and Rs 24,480 in cash.
The STF has registered a case (8/20) under Sections 18/20 (b) of the NDPS Act, 1985. While the investigation into the case is underway, the accused was forwarded to the court of District & Sessions Judge, Bhadrak today.
During the last 15 days, the STF has conducted raids at several places in the Puri, Balasore, Angul, Khurda, Pipili, Dhenkanal, Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak areas and registered seven cases against 17 accused persons. The STF has also seized a total of 417 grams of Brown Sugar, 326.45 grams of opium, Rs 11,000 in cash, one car, seven motorcycles, bank accounts, and other incriminating materials.
