Jashipur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Jayanarayan Mishra on Sunday claimed that the state government’s report on containing the forest fire is false.
Addressing a press conference here, after visiting the fire affected places in Similipal, Mishra said that he along with his team members have noticed that forest fire is ravaging Joranda and Chahala inside Similipal biosphere.
The BJP MLA alleged that the forest officials have misappropriated CAMPA fund. He accused them of not maintaining a good rapport with forest dwellers.
The BJP MLA urged the government for a permanent solution or else wildfires will have become regular menace for the biosphere.
Mishra, heading a 12-member BJP team to Similipal, said he will raise the issue of the forest wing’s corrupt practices in the next session of Odisha Assembly.
He alleged that the stakeholders have not been given due importance as far as the protection of forest resources are concerned.
The department has failed to provide water to wildlife nor due protective measures have been taken to ensure their safety.
