State Gets Ready To Welcome Prez Kovind To Odisha

Bhubaneswar: State Administration has been warmed up to welcome His Excellency President of India, Ram Nath Kovind in his two-day visit to Odisha.

A high-level meeting to this effect was held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy in secretariat conference hall today wherein Principal Secretary Home Sanjiv Chopra along with Director General of Police Satyajit Mohanty outlined the issues for discussion.

Various preparatory works relating to the President’s visit were chalked out and Chief Secretary, Tripathy directed concerned departments to complete the preparations well before the scheduled time.  Senior officers were given the charges of supervision and completion.

Tripathy directed concerned departments to ensure error-free arrangements on all fronts for smooth management of different programmes slated to be graced by His Excellency.

Presenting the draft tour programme of the President, Special Secretary Home Smt Santosh Bala said that so far 2 public programmes have been slated for President of India.

His Excellency would arrive Biju Patnaik International Airport ( BPIA), Bhubaneswar on 7th December around 7.30 PM and would proceed to Raj Bhawan, Bhubaneswar. He would make his night halt there.  On the next day, his Excellency would proceed towards Barunei in Khordha district around 9.30 AM. He will lay the foundation stone of the famous Paika Bodroha Memorial at Barunei Hill around 10.30 AM.

Then after President will proceed towards Utkal University to grace the closing ceremony of University’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration around 12.40 PM. Subsequently, His Excellency will proceed towards Raj Bhawan and then after will leave for Delhi from BPIA around 5 PM.

The issues relating to aircraft, guard of honour, security arrangements, accommodation, carcade arrangements, transport arrangements, medical and health care for the VVIP party, uninterrupted power supply, hotline connectivity, barricading, construction of dais etc were discussed in the meeting.

Chief Secretary Tripathy directed concerned departments to stay alert and keep a strict vigil over the entire process meticulously so as to make the visit of His Excellency free of any hitches and omissions.

The authorities of the concerned institutions were advised to have regular liaison with home and police department regarding dais plan, regulation of crowd and gathering in meeting places. Principal Secretary Home Sri Sanjiv Chopra along with Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and Senior officers from Home, Police, Intelligence and concerned departments participated in the discussion.
