State assembly adjourned sine die


Bhubaneswar: The Budget Session of the 15th Odisha Legislative Assembly ended on Friday as the House was adjourned sine die on Friday.

There were three more working days from April 5 to 7 for the House to run as per the schedule.

Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the House after Government Chief Whip Ananta Das made a proposal in this regard. Das proposed that the House be adjourned sine die as no more businesses were to be conducted.

A motion in this regard was moved by government Chief Whip Ananta Das who said that since the Appropriation Bill has been passed, the house should be adjourned sine die. As such coming four days were holidays for celebration of Utkal Diwas and Ram Navami festival.

The budget session of the assembly was held in two phases. While the first phase of the session was held between February 22 to March 4, the second phase began from March 14 to March 31.

House too constituted two House Committees on the day. While one committee led by MLA Pramila Mallick would conduct probe into the alleged Bargarh farmer Hadu Bagarty suicide case, the other would submit the consensus resolution of the paddy MSP to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during two-day visit to the State on April 15 and 16. 17-member House Committee led by Speaker & comprising members from all parties constituted to meet PM to demand hike in Paddy MSP.

It may be noted that Opposition members had made demands for formation of the House Committee on the two issues several times in the House.

The Assembly had witnessed ruckus over the two issues for many days also.
