Standing The Test Of Time, ‘Pragativadi’ Becomes The Voice Of Voiceless: CM Naveen Patnaik

Bhubaneswar: Attending the Golden Jubilee ceremony of Odia daily “The Pragativadi” and birth anniversary of its founder Pradyumna Bal, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said that the leading Odia daily has become the voice of voiceless by standing the test of time in its fifty years of existence.

“The Pragativadi, in its fifty years of existence, has stood the test of time and has become the voice of the voiceless.  I am glad that following the footsteps of Pradyumna Babu, the newspaper has been making great endeavors to preserve Gandhian values in society,” Patnaik said while addressing the ceremony which was observed on the premises of Pragativadi here.

Paying rich tributes to the founder of Pragativadi, the CM said that Bal had endeavored to establish democratic values in society throughout his life.

“Pradyumna Babu was a man of strong determination and high principles. His uncompromising struggle to establish probity in public life, freedom of speech and journalistic ethics will continue to inspire the journalists of the current and future generations,” the CM pointed out.

He said that trust works as an important factor for every newspaper that reflects the social issues concerning all sections of society especially weaker sections. This is the critical factor that every newspaper should strive for, Patnaik said.

Odisha today has been making huge strides on the path of development.  The transformation of Odisha is noticed and applauded across the country and even the world, the CM added.

“The new Odisha is confident and trying hard to set global standards in all its actions and endeavors. I hope ‘The Pragativadi’ will continue to support this great journey of our state,” he maintained.

On the occasion, 11 individuals from different walks of life were conferred on the prestigious “Pradyumna Bal Seva  Samman” for their outstanding contribution to the society in various fields.

Among others, Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain, former Minister and Congress legislature party chief Narasingh Mishra, MP and Trustee of Pradyumna Bal Memorial Trust Dr Achyuta Samanta and Pragativadi chairperson Saswati Bal graced the occasion.
