STA Signs MOU For Smart Queue Management System In RTOs

Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha has signed an MOU with National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) for implementation of Smart Queue Management System.

In the first phase the project will be implemented in Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Bhubaneswar-1, Cuttack, Ganjam, Puri, Driving Testing Track at RTO-2, Bhubaneswar at an estimated cost of Rs 2.18 crore, said an official press release.

Under 5T Policy of the Government, STA is committed to improve the quality of service in the RTOs across the State, the press release added.

The Smart Queue Management System will improve the citizens’ experience in the RTOs.

The public can book the slot in advance through the online portal or can come directly for different services related to vehicle, Driving Licence etc.

When the citizen comes directly, a token will be generated at the office. The citizens need not stand in queues. They can comfortably sit inside the office for their turn.

There will be display systems in all the counters to announce the token numbers. The citizen can know the approximate waiting time for getting the service through predictive forecasting by the system.

The citizens will receive notification for their service from time to time. This will reduce the average waiting time and improve service delivery.

The Smart Queue system will be implemented for all the service by the RTO offices related to vehicle, driving licences, challans etc.

This system will also be implemented in the Learners Licence and Driving Licence test centres to improve the experience of the applicants.

After the implementation of the amended MV Act, there was a huge rush in the RTOs. STA has taken several steps to introduce various services in online mode, online payment, removal of dalals, installation of CCTV, simplification of processes to reduce the footfall in the RTOs.
