Srimandir to go plastic-free from April 1: SJTA Chief

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to impose a complete ban on the use of plastic items inside Puri Srimandir premises from April 1.

Soon after a meeting of the Chhattisa Nijog here today, SJTA chief administrator IAS Krishan Kumar informed that the decision has been taken to make Srimandir place-free and the district administration will be consulted for further steps in this regard.

He also informed that it has been decided in the meeting to impose a fine of Rs 500 on any person or sevayat found spitting inside the temple premises.

Earlier a notice was issued in the regard and now this will be strictly enforced in the Srimandir to maintain a clean and hygienic surrounding in the Jagannath temple, he added.

Further, the SJTA chief informed that discussion was also held on the timely release of Mahaprasad for the devotees.
