Srimandir servitors’ body oppose SJTA’s report to Supreme Court
Puri: Resentment sparked in Puri Srimandir after the servitors’ body of the temple yesterday opposed the affidavit filed by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to the Supreme Court.
According to sources, the SJTA had filed a report to the apex court over the number of servitors required to perform duties at the Jagannath Temple in Puri.
While the SJTA report mentioned that only 36 servitors are needed to perform the daily rituals at the Holy Trinity’s shrine, senior servitor Binayak Das Mohapatra stated the information to be “incorrect” as at least 80 to 100 servitors are required to perform different rituals every day.
Adding to this, the servitors’ body also mentioned that requirement of servitors is important due to the celebration of various important festivals in the 12th-century shrine.
