New Delhi/Colombo: The death toll in the serial terror blasts at churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Sunday has gone up to 156. Nearly 400 were injured.

The blasts occurred at three churches and three high-end hotels in the island state as worshipers gathered to attend Easter Sunday services.

Reports said the police chief had warned the administration about bombings.

Media reports said one of the explosions was reported from Saint Anthony’s Church in Colombo while the other blast took place in Katuwapitiya and Katana.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has appealed to the people to remain calm and not to be fooled by rumours.

He termed the blasts as “heinous acts” and said that an investigation has been launched to look into the matter.

The Sri Lankan government has blocked internet services in most zones of Colombo.
