Sonbhadra: Family members of Sonbhadra victims have demanded money, land and death penalty for the perpetrators of massacre, according to reports.
Media reports said Chhote Lal, who was injured and is undergoing treatment at a hospital demanded Rs 10 lakh and 10 bigha land for the kin of those who were killed in the firing. He also demanded Rs 7 lakh and six bigha land for those who were injured.
These demands come ahead of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to meet family members of the deceased.
Reports said the land dispute at Ubbha village in Sonbhadra district turned violent when people armed with guns and sharp weapons and sticks attacked a village killing ten people including women while over 20 sustained injuries.
The headman had gone to take possession of his land purchased two years ago along with his men and when the villagers objected, his associates fired indiscriminately at the mob.
So far, twenty-nine people have been arrested while four officials have been suspended in connection with the incident.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath told the media that 29 criminals have been arrested. Stern action will be taken against those involved in the crime, he added.
