Snana Yatra rituals of Lord Jagannath to begin at 1 AM: SJTA Chief

Bhubaneswar: The Pahandi ritual for Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath will begin after midnight at 1 AM, Chief Administrator of SJTA Dr. Krishan Kumar said on Wednesday.

The servitors and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration is getting prepared to conduct ‘Snana Yatra’ on June 5. The ceremonial Pahandi (procession) of the Holy Trinity will be conducted by 150 Daita servitors.

The SJTA said 60 Daitas will bring Lord Jagannath in Pahandi from Ratna Simhasana to Snana Bedi. Then 50 servitors would carry out the procession of Lord Balabhadra, 30 for Devi Subhadra and 10 Daitas will be engaged in Pahandi of Lord Sudarshan.

Dr. Kumar said that COVID-19 testing of servitors will continue as usual. The ‘Dhadi Pahandi’ will be held between 1 am and 4 am on June 5.

The administration has said that at 4:30 am Mangal Arati will be conducted and the ‘Mailam’ seva will commence at 4:40 am.

The temple administration further said that Adhara Pocha, Abakash, Roshahoma, Surya Puja, and other rituals will be conducted between 7:30 am and 9:30 am.

Chera Pahanara will be conducted by Gajapati Maharaj Dibya Singh Deb on Snana Bedi at 10:30 am. The temple administration said the Hathi Besha will be organised between 11 am and 12 pm.

The SJTA said the Bahuda Pahandi of Lord Jagannath and his siblings and Lord Sudarshan will be done between 5 pm and 8 pm after which they will enter the ‘Anasara Ghara’.
